1000mikes has a USA phone number

1000mikesHere’s some great tour-related news: 1000mikes.com has set up a USA-based access number for its live audio streaming service. This means @U2 (and anyone in the U.S.) can dial a “local” number for our country and stream audio from U2 concerts, just as U2tour.de, U2log.com, and many others did during the first leg of the U2 360 tour.

This is cool news because, up until now, 1000mikes has only offered dial-in numbers from inside Europe. Providing live audio from the upcoming North American shows wouldn’t have been impossible, but it would’ve been either expensive or somewhat technically complicated.

This kinda dates back to August 26, when I sent an email to the 1000mikes.com support team. I wasn’t asking them to add a US-based line:

Hello 1000mikes,

I was introduced to your service when some friends in Europe started streaming live audio from recent U2 concerts there.

U2 is about to start touring in the USA, where I live, but you don’t have any phone access numbers for this country. Is there a service similar to yours in the USA?

Thanks,
Matt

1000mikes replied by saying they’ve wanted to add a US dial-in line and that they’d look into it. After a few back and forth emails, it’s now done and ready and listed on their web site.

You can plan on @U2 streaming a selection of songs from many of the upcoming shows, and I’m sure other US-based fans will do the same. Heck, if you’re going to the Toronto, Charlottesville, Tampa, Dallas, Houston, or Norman shows … we could use some help. :)

    Matt,
I’m going to Dallas, Houston, and Norman. I’m not very technically savvy though. But let me know if I can help with something.

I am going to Toronto 2. I have never done this before but would be willing to try if someone can let me know what I would need to do.
