Coldplay’s fanclub tickets…

Got this in my email today. What a novel concept — get tickets to your fanclub directly, without having to deal with the Ticketmaster mess.

————-
Our New Presale Method Explained:

We need you to tell us:
- What show you want to buy tickets for, and
- How many tickets you want for that show (the maximum you can request is 4)

Tickets will then be allocated to as many members as the presale allows. Members will then be notified by e-mail on Thursday 3rd or Friday 4th March detailing how many tickets they have been allocated to their requested show. Members then have 24 hours from receiving their confirmation e-mail to make payment.

The members that we can not allocate tickets to will also be notified via email. We will then try to give them priority access to the presale for the next UK dates (if any).

There will also be a general on sale from 9am Saturday 5th March. These tickets will be available over the phone, in person as well as online. For full details see coldplay.com

We’re sorry if this might sound a little complicated and long winded but we want to make sure that all fans get a chance to see the band.

If you want to request presale tickets for any of the UK shows listed above, go to www.coldplay.com/inmyplacetouraccess now!!

To submit your request you will need to enter your valid In My Place email address, which will most likely be the one you received this email to.

This is not a first come first served service, you have until March 2nd 4pm (GMT) to submit your presale ticket request.

Here’s hoping U2 takes a similar route for the 3rd leg. Just do it like we used to with Propaganda, but put the form on the web instead of doing it via mail.

It appears we’ll find out next week if that’s the plan. 3rd leg should be announced Sunday or Monday.

yeah, I got that email too and told myself “this is what U2 should do!! Where’s Larry when you need him?!”

I hope they get it right with the 3rd leg, I just hope that they plan for enough time.

Hopefully the rumor at interference.com is wrong:

“Interference reader Chris has let us know that Philadelphia’s 100.7 WZXL has told their ZXL “Work Force” team that U2 has booked the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia on October 16th & 17th, 2005, and, most fascinatingly, tickets are due to go on sale for these dates on Saturday March 12th at 10am!”

If that were true, I can’t imagine the presale going smoothly with so little time!!

Got the Coldplay e-mail also, thought it was a great idea. Sadly, I don’t see a U2 concert in my future. I’ll probably die their biggest fan never to see them live.

I should probably make this a separate blog entry, but the thing about tickets is true — the 3rd leg should be announced Sunday or Monday with tickets going on sale immediately thereafter.

Suppose I shouldn’t complain but… too bad it looks like they’re only going to prioritize former Prop subscribers WHO GOT SHUT OUT IN THE PRESALE. Like many others (I’m sure), I did get 2 tix in the presale, but they were balcony seats. So unless they completely revamp the presale and start over with codes (which they probably won’t), I won’t have a shot at the Leg3 presale.

I guess that is the fairest way to handle it (moving people who got NO tix to the front of the line), but it’s too bad they screwed up the first presale so badly.

Something ought to be done about the scalpers. Like rid the universe of them. Perhaps there should be an anti-scalper task force started eh? …bothersome money grubbers…

until it’s illegal… scalpers will sadly exist :(

got another email from COLDPLAY today about another presale, but also this:

“Several ‘In My Place’ members have told us that they didn’t have enough time to register for presale tickets because their notification email had been automatically sent to their junk mail folder if they were using hotmail or other web based email clients. . Therefore we are giving all members another chance to apply for tickets in advance to all shows today .”

How cool of Coldplay is that?!

Just to update my original post — it appears the presale will happen through Ticketmaster next week, though under different circumstances than January. Let’s just hope the results are different, too.
