Official word on GA lineups

We’ve received official confirmation from U2’s publicity staff on the procedure being used for the GA lineups:

“There are 2 lines: one for U2.com, one for the others. The U2.com line will be allowed in first, tickets scanned, and random selection will determine if the ticket holder gets into the ellipse or not.

Fan club members will be allowed the first entrance into the arena.

Once the fan club line has been exhausted, the other GA line will go through the same process.”

    That sounds quite unfair, because…

    - With the initial pre-sale screw-up, some of the tickets issued to U2.com members and former Propaganda U2.com members were issued as non-fan tickets via Ticketmaster.

    - Some friends traveling to the show together will be split up based on the ticket scan? What if people were able to get one fan club ticket for themselves and a normal ticket for their son/wife/girlfriend/etc.?

I can’t see how this process will help anything. It should be first come, first served. Also, this was never mentioned anywhere in U2.com’s memebrship terms. “GA” shoul dmean exactly what it does = general admission, regardless of how you got your ticket.

For crying out loud, if a non-fan club member gets to the arena at 2:00 AM and has a GA ticket and has to get to some secondary line, is that fair?! I don’t think so, and I am a former Prop U2.com member.

Does this still mean we can bring one other person with us ?… By that I mean we don’t get separated (in the oval or out).

I couldn’t use my code from U2.com to buy tickets because of the mess up, the ones I bought where from a ticket company selling double the price. So if they scan my ticket is won’t register as a U2.com member, is this right? Oh dear! That means all the scalpers who signed up to U2.com so they could sell the tickets will have sold the ones with the code on, leaving everybody else who got messed around that day out in the cold again. Its a bit pants if you ask me.

That’s specifically the kind of problem I’m talking about. U2.com tickets bought from scalpers by non-members will get preferential treatment… even if a U2.com member WITHOUT a fan ticket gets there at 3:00AM!?!?! This is unacceptable. Hopefully, there will be a more detailed explanation from each venues’ policies.

Make sure you U2.com members bring along that silly membership card they sent you!

Yeah I have my little membership card. But i can see them still denying you!! That will be very very frustrating!!! This is a joke! Why make it more complicated than it needs to be!?!?!?

I haven’t received my membership card yet. I could take my email with my details of being ‘welcomed as a U2′com subscribed member’ but I doubt they’ll pay any attention, while all the time people who bought tickets from scalpers will get the preferred treatment. The whole scenario scares me.

I never got a membership card or the cc key chain either. Signed up in November and did have an access code. It got bungled and I ended up with GAs through TM after the presale. Not sure how that will work in Chicago when I meet up with two friends who got theirs the first day of the presale.

We’ll see after tonight. Those lucky ducks! Show’s starting soon!

I am in the same boat… Propaganda member since 1993, U2.com member since the launch date, and completely shut out for GA tickets in Denver, where I live. I even struck out on the general onsale. I had to deal with brokers to get my GA floor tickets.

Instead of whining among ourselves, I would propose that we document our claims and take them to a contact within the management chain to resolve this equitably. Nobody can claim that Principle Management has ignored the situation and I must commend them for being proactive in this difficult situation. Is there somoeone within @u2 who can make that contact?

    Hey all you U-2 fans
My Boyfriend Gerald and I went to the disapointing first night of the U2 concert in SanDiego. Even more dissapointing was when bono self proclaimed himself as Jesus Christ. Anyway for all you who want to get into the elipse. It is rather easy, I just made a bunch of copies of different color wristbands with cardstock paper. Put doublesided tape on it and it worked like a charm. I had one wristband I made for ground access and another I made for the elipse. It was an awesome expirience being in the elipse, it made up for the dissapointing first night. For all who were there, i was the one who yelled out to Bono that he was no Jesus Christ. i will send you all my copies of the wristbands i made for ground access and the elipse. Just email me jeffandger@sbcglobal.net I recommend going to kincos and buying card stock paper. After you print and cut out your wristbands, mush and bend scrunch it all up and it looks just like the paper the real wristbands come in. Have fun.
