Love+Peace - REACT NOW!

BonoIs this a sign of things to come on the third leg? Was Bono’s message specific for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, or have they been forced to eliminate COEXIST from their performance?

(See @U2’s story about the COEXIST controversy here.)

Quite the powerful performance of Love+Peace for the MTV/VH1 special - a song and stage performance that still proves to be the showstopper for the Vertigo tour.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen U2 songs reveal one of their true identities months and months after their incarnation. In yet another instance of finite wisdom, I never saw it coming with LAPOE. Records have come to mind left and right over recent days, and have poignantly struck me with their relevancy. Knowing that time didn’t permit working up an unrehearsed song, I didn’t expect One Step Closer to Knowing, Walk On, or Heartland to be selected. But then tonight there was LAPOE, directed loud and clear to Americans and our republic. As the band played and Bono sang, messages were ringing true like church bells. Which one penetrated the most? I think it might be the lyric “Baby don’t fight, we can talk this thing through… and I wonder, where is the love.” Let’s not restrict our effectiveness (by taking up a fight among ourselves) during these continuous relief operations. Now is not the time for a struggle, it’s the time for unity. The people of this country need love and peace. Thank God for all who are providing the ‘HELP’ our countrymen need.
