In case you missed it…
Scanning the ‘net for some U2 news (because you can never have enough of it) and stumbled upon these stories:

The Rock Radio.com:
U2: Changes for final leg of Vertigo tour
U2 are on a short break from the second North American leg of their Vertigo world tour, which allows the group to evaluate some of the changes it’s made to the show. Guitarist The Edge told us that the group wanted to do more than just repeat what it had done during its first swing on these shores earlier this year: “Things just need to be refreshed, and so we looked at the whole thing and just tried to think of what needed to be revised and what new songs we might be able to work up and - just really trying lots of different ideas just to see what things strike a chord in front of the U2 crowd.” The Irish band will resume the Vertigo world tour on Monday (October 3rd) in Boston. They will release a concert DVD called Vertigo 2005: Live From Chicago on November 15th. U2 will also appear on the Live 8 DVD, which comes out November 8th.

Speaking of Boston’s shows…The Boston Globe has a feature article in today’s paper called:
Wide awake in Europe with U2
One man’s pilgrimage is another’s stirring tour through the new Old World.
(Click on The Boston Globe link for the full story - should be a free view today & tomorrow).

The other major Boston newspaper, The Boston Herald, ran a tour preview piece on Friday.

The folks at 3 a.m. (mirror.co.uk) have run a story claiming that Bono’s in talks to play an aging rock star in a Hollywood musical called “All You Need is Love”. (I’ll believe THAT when I see it, tho)

For those interested - Alan McEvoy, a former accountant and financial advisor with Principle Management, is reported to be launching a lap-dancing club on Parnell Street in Dublin along with Dublin businessman Tom Butler. This was originally reported by The Sunday Business Post Online. If Tom Butler’s name sounds familiar, he was involved with U2 in the past with his previous company, LeisureCorp, the interactive laser tag game. It is reported that the band lost money on the laster tag venture.

Bravo to the Globe (my hometown paper) — they promoted that travel piece on the front page as well. Too bad the site doesn’t include the (large — half-page almost) art –a glowing orange Bono-as-Jesus rising over the outline of a cathedral. Clever? Offensive? Can’t tell how I feel…
I thought the article read like a post to Wire.
