On the Street with Conan O’Brien

Conan Chats with U2 Fans
Originally uploaded by anonymoust.

Greetings from New York…

This was the scene this morning on 49th Street as Conan himself joined the line to chat with U2 fans awaiting standby tickets for tonight’s show.

The energy was great; the host was hilarious. He taped trivia and music segments for tonight’s show with many fans (I’m the one who correctly identified the lyrics to “Like a Song” if you’re curious).

I’ll be back with you later this evening with a live report following the taping.

Stay tuned…

Oh man that totally sucks! :( I am watching it right now on my TV and it sounds like it so would have been worth it to beat someone up and take their tickets!

you should really address the word on the blogs re: U2 and Rick Santorum. I’m a Boston fan and based on this information and my political feelings, I would absolutely boycott seeing U2 to shut down the hatemongering of a man like Santorum any day. I can’t believe even a relationship with his “christian” staffer is enough of an excuse for the band to associate with this person. I’m a fan, but I’m an American first. This is spreading on the blogs like fire, and you are going to be picketed, so I’d suggest you pay attention.

“you are going to be picketed”

    1. WE are not the band, we are an independent fan site.

    2. This has already been addressed on our home page, http://www.atu2.com.

    3. Why are you putting this comment on a post about the Conan O’Brien show?

I was blessed!! Friends I was meeting up with in NY for the 3 U2 shows on 10/7, 8, and 10 had ordered tickets for us to go to the Conan taping the night of 10/6, thinking it would be a great thing to do on a “non-U2 show night.” WELL, much to our shock and surprise (elation, more like it!) the SHOW-LONG guest ended up being U2!!!

After we recovered (it took a LONG time), we knew this show would be monstrous, and we were right! We lined up early enough to be first row!! The energy inside the place was AMAZING. The studio crowd was SO LOUD, they actually turned our microphones either down or off to tape!! We could not even HEAR what Conan was saying to lead into commercial. We had to watch at our hotel that night to see/hear, ha ha!

“Original” live was amazing!! Somehow, the recorded translation seemed to “lose” a little something that was more alive in the studio. It was still great on tv, but I hated that you couldn’t seem to tell how well everything “meshed” as well as it did, live. The overwhelming sound of “Original” seemed to hit me from all angles of the room. It was totally amazing.

UNREAL experience. It was WONDERFUL. So glad to have had that once in a lifetime shot!!
