Hello everyone - remember…sleep deprivation is a good thing, right?
My full Boston report will be forthcoming, but I did want to let our readers know that the GA experience in Boston for Tuesday’s show was excellent, once again.
Some notes from U2-sday in Boston…Adam, Edge and Bono came out to sign autographs and do some photos with fans before the show. By the time Bono came out, a Boston Duck Tour-mobile had driven past while conducting their tour…the Duck stopped right at the foot of the ramp where Bono was. Bono looked up and said, “Oh, Hello - I perform here every Tuesday between 4 and 4:15. See you next week!” It was priceless. 32 people on a Duck, cameras all shooting off photos, and Bono looking puzzled. It’s not like they don’t have these tours in Dublin, ya know.
Off to NYC to cover the NYU talk with Professor Sachs, so my Boston reports will be a little late in coming - thanks for your patience. In the meantime, if you’d like to check out some photos from the gig: http://www.flickr.com/photos/atu2com/sets/1077698/.

Hello from Boston! The GA line was very *very* well organized. I so hope that other venues contact the Garden folks and LEARN from them!
We arrived at 7:30 a.m. to find that the lines had already been split between fanclub & non. The fanclub line was twice the size as the non-fanclub. As everyone goes in at the same time, our group of folks decided to go to the nonfanclub line. We were 37, 38 and 39 in line. The GA wristband distribution started early because there were so many people camping out, that North Station MBTA folks were needing the area cleared for the morning commute.
Note to everyone going to tomorrow’s show w/GA….show up early in the a.m. if you want a good spot in line.

The Persuasions Sing U2!
This is cool in ways I can’t even begin to express. As you may or may not know, a cappella is a passion of mine, and The Persuasions are the godfathers of a cappella, one of the best and most respected groups out there. For them to release an all-U2 album…man. My worlds just collided big time. And I even got to play a couple of cuts this morning on KDHX, our community radio station (which is in its pledge drive! Support community radio! Okay, I’m done with my commercial)–it sounds amazing. Good mix of material, too, it looks like–check out the tracklist–it’s not all the usual suspects.
Will post a review shortly after I get a copy of my very own…

Scanning the ‘net for some U2 news (because you can never have enough of it) and stumbled upon these stories:
——————————————–
The Rock Radio.com:
U2: Changes for final leg of Vertigo tour
U2 are on a short break from the second North American leg of their Vertigo world tour, which allows the group to evaluate some of the changes it’s made to the show. Guitarist The Edge told us that the group wanted to do more than just repeat what it had done during its first swing on these shores earlier this year: “Things just need to be refreshed, and so we looked at the whole thing and just tried to think of what needed to be revised and what new songs we might be able to work up and - just really trying lots of different ideas just to see what things strike a chord in front of the U2 crowd.” The Irish band will resume the Vertigo world tour on Monday (October 3rd) in Boston. They will release a concert DVD called Vertigo 2005: Live From Chicago on November 15th. U2 will also appear on the Live 8 DVD, which comes out November 8th.

Speaking of Boston’s shows…The Boston Globe has a feature article in today’s paper called:
Wide awake in Europe with U2
One man’s pilgrimage is another’s stirring tour through the new Old World.
(Click on The Boston Globe link for the full story - should be a free view today & tomorrow).
———————–
The other major Boston newspaper, The Boston Herald, ran a tour preview piece on Friday.
———————–
The folks at 3 a.m. (mirror.co.uk) have run a story claiming that Bono’s in talks to play an aging rock star in a Hollywood musical called “All You Need is Love”. (I’ll believe THAT when I see it, tho)

For those interested - Alan McEvoy, a former accountant and financial advisor with Principle Management, is reported to be launching a lap-dancing club on Parnell Street in Dublin along with Dublin businessman Tom Butler. This was originally reported by The Sunday Business Post Online. If Tom Butler’s name sounds familiar, he was involved with U2 in the past with his previous company, LeisureCorp, the interactive laser tag game. It is reported that the band lost money on the laster tag venture.

Thanks to my buddy Phil who pointed this out to a bunch of us over the past day or so…
If you watch the HTDAAB DVD that comes with the book packaging, you’ll find that COEXIST was inscribed on the back wall of the recording studio (you can view it pretty clearly during the Crumbs section), along with what would appear to be a scientific equation for an atomic bomb. You can see the equation really well duing Steve Lillywhite’s commentary.
For the fans who haven’t yet committed to memory the book’s artwork, there’s some lyrics for one of the best U2 songs EVER (imho), Mercy, as well as the COEXIST graphic.
My question is - what other clues can you view in this promo DVD that can be discerned now that we’re about a year later from when the video was created? Looking back, there were *a lot* of clues given to fans…but we weren’t super sleuths to figure some of this stuff out.
