They have been going strong since 1990. Their shows are like religious experiences to me much the same way u2's are. I don't really know who MarK Ellen is, but this is a dubious statement in my opinion. I agree with Tassoula that Bono should be on the list not by himself, but with u2. David Bowie should be considered light years ahead of Morrisey, although Bowie was in the 70's. I was never a huge fan but Nirvana should be up there as well on the legends list.
