Aerosmith does U2?

Well, not exactly—but it seems that at least one member of the band (Joe Perry) pitched in on a recent rendition of “Seconds,” with the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars.

According to Greg Haymes of the Cape Cod Times, the song will be used on an upcoming album to feature African artists performing U2 songs. Unfortunately he offers no title or release date for this project.

My interest is officially piqued.

I was just about to post this, too. I thought maybe I missed something while working on the book and that this was old news, but I’m glad to see I’m not the only who hadn’t heard of the project. :-)

I just saw the Refugee All-Stars on Friday night here in Boston (at the Paradise, actually). I must admit I left before the very end, but if they did “Seconds” I missed it. Instead, we heard, as Reuben joyously told us over and over again, lots of “AFFF!! RIII!! CAN! MUUUUUUU!! SIC!!!” About 3 of them were wearing ONE bands onstage.
