I was at the ceremony and I don't want anyone to think that the reference to "many" empty seats was due to lack of interest. The reason for all of the empty seats up front in the "Gold" and "Silver" sections was that the majority of the people attending the Gala dinner after the ceremony were at a cocktail reception prior to the ceremony and chose to watch the from the balcony....thus leaving *many* empty seats. Five minutes prior to the ceremony, people in the general seats were moved forward to fill in. I agree that it was a shame they did not allow people in the standing section move up to the seats.

Bono's speech was great....and he was kind enough to stop and visit with fans (I was one!) at the end of the evening.

Thank you, Bono, and Congratulations!

I am from Montreal and read his speech, truly amazing , such integrity , he writes so eloquently and with such humor . Bono is definetely "ONE' oof a kind . I get goose bumps when I think of all the good he is doing in this world, besides the great music of U2 , his inspiration is addicting . My love goes out to him !

A wonderful night it was! I was in the first GA area at the gate. Let me tell you though, it sure was tough to watch those seated people move up. All of us GA'ers had to look at all those back rows of empty seats! A side from that, it was an incredible night, with an incredible man. I'm still on my "Bono High". I had to take a look at his speech again. I knew it was good, but was so in awe that I think I missed a lot! Could have listened to him all night. Bono is so inspiring and truly lives his life in the name of Love!
