Scattered Thoughts: Couple of Things…

Kylie Minogue’s new movie White Diamond features an appearance by Bono. The documentary chronicles Minogue’s comeback from breast cancer. You might recall that Bono joined her on stage in Sydney last year for a duet of the song Kids. This included Bono swinging around a leash and collar, while Kylie wore a cat suit. (watch video of that here.)

Depending on your point of view, that video may or may not be as intriguing as the Red Hill Mining Town video, which you have surely heard by now is finally going to see the light of day as part of the Joshua Tree re-release.

While my inner grump wants to complain about another re-issue instead of a new issue (aka new music), this looks like their best repackage and re-sell job yet. So … yay, I guess.

God!I can’t wait to see the video “Red Hill Mining Town”!This song is one of my favourites and I hope the video is worthy of the song.I’m so excited!:D But more than ever I can’t wait for a new album!I hope we won’t have to wait too long for that.

What’s funny is that the long sought-after “holy grail” video for RHMT is likely to be hokey crap. Remember that the band positively HATED it… ahh, but it’s U2, so it can’t be all bad, right? I’ll be picking mine up on release day! :-)

Well, you know U2 tend to be harsh on themselves most of the times, they’re very autocritical.I also really don’t think the video is going to be something special but it’s always worth seeing U2.:) I wonder, did Antoin Corbjin directed the video, because if he did is definetely worth watching.

I agree with the fact that they are usually much harder on themselves than necessary. I am also looking forward to “Red Hill Mining Town” video, love the song. I am sure it will be great.

Thanks!:) I went to U2.com and read about the release and everything.U2 sure know how to get fans excited when it comes to releasing something new or old but in a brand new packaging.I just hope that they’re gonna do something about the sound quality because I can’t hear the beginning of “Exit” at all on my casette nor the CD.I have to turn the volume up loud.

At least when somebody compares the new album to Joshua Tree, and inevitably finds it lacking, there will be a fresh reissue of JT to compare it with.

keep in mind folks, U2 were pushing for red hill mining town as the lead off single for the joshua tree back in ‘87 — even made the video for it — excpet when it came time for touring, bono simnply couldn’t sing the song during rehearsal.

to me that’s a good thing they had to shelve it — because i don’t think u2 would’ve been launched to super-stardom if red hill was their first single. and it was a very good thing with or without you came out instead (which has tunred out to be most timeless and still as potent as it was back in ‘87).

so i for one, am very curious to see the ‘holy grail’ red hill video, if nothing more than to see how the joshua tree coulda been, and most likely, not as strong a seller as it came to be. if you think about it, the future of u2 could’ve turned out so much differently if red hill was the first single. so, yeah, it’s a Big Deal to the harder crunchy u2 fans…
