Scattered Thoughts: Good Company

bnejo

BBC radio DJ Jo Whiley in good company.

That photo is from a post on Jo Whiley’s blog, which recounts the four-song set played last Friday night at the Union Chapel as part of Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions by a shy retiring pair of nervous newcomers - Bono and the Edge….

There are a few different versions of audience shot videos from the gig floating around:

Videos: Desire (1) (2) (3) / Wave of Sorrow (1) (2) / Stay

So, just to recap: first we have Bono sending out lo-fi Facebook messages of brand new songs. Next we have Bono and Edge playing an off-the-cuff live gig. The only thing that could shock me at this point would be a Mullen Jr. sighting. Maybe?! Eh, maybe not… he’s probably still annoyed he got outvoted on releasing that Hottie Bo Bottie Mining Town video. (That last sentence may be a figment of my imagination, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true!)

too funny! larry is definitely sulking and surreptitiously reading every blog entry related to the RHMT vid…’i knew they’d laugh at me banging that stupid column…still, at least i didn’t look like a bird-stealing vagrant like the egde…’

and you’re on the money with your prediction - larry spotted at HQ just last week:

Rarry, was your name, by chance, taken from the story in U2 by U2 about Larry in Japan? Very funny!

That had to be the best night of Jo Whiley’s life. 2 U2 kisses at once - Oh vai mama!

right on ss! that story made me lol …it had it all….stampeding screaming fans , a car chase, a bonafide international incident! and larry’s comment about it really coming down to some sort of anthroplogical study was priceless. gotta love the U2 sense of humour.
