Dying Man Mentions U2 in His Final Plans
What if you had just months to live and you had not reached your 29th birthday?
That’s the tragedy New Zealand’s Simon Toomey is enduring as he battles a rare cancer in his shoulder, neck, back, lungs and liver.
In this recent article about Toomey, it is mentioned that he’s writing an online diary to share his thoughts on death, and the life he will lead up until his passing, which he’s been told will be within the next year.
No funeral plans have been solidified, but Toomey made a point of saying “there will be some U2 played.”
My heart goes out to this fellow fan, who is facing so much.

Simon,
I don’t know if you ever heard of the Cancer Treatments Centers Of America. I know there’s one in Illinois, by Chicago, and one in Minnasota somewhere, but they have more than that. I don’t know the #, but it’s an 800# so I don’t think it would be too hard to get.
They do amazing things to people that have been diagnoised as terminal, and have given them their lives back. They use different treatments than any other hospitals, and have done amazing things. They actually had a guy with stage 4 bone cancer, and the guys still living cancer free 5 years later. Just a thought, and people come to them from all over the world. They do incredible things. You’re way too young not to fight so I thought I’d let you know about it. Just a thought. God Bless You Simon. You will be in my prayers, Robyn
