ONE Special Visitor

First Lady Laura Bush spoke to the Colorado and Idaho delegations today at Brit’s Restaurant before the day’s start at the Republican National Convention. During her remarks, she mentioned that later in the day she would be participating in a ONE Campaign event:

Later today I’m going to go to the ONE Campaign, which is one of the campaigns that’s — actually one of Bono’s, the rock singer’s — U2 singer’s campaign about development in countries, reduction of poverty, and treatment of HIV/AIDS and malaria. And as you all know, that’s one thing that I’ve done a lot of when I’ve traveled to Africa, and that is, been able to express the generosity of the American people through PEPFAR, the President’s Emergency Relief for Aids, and PMI, the President’s Malaria Initiative, where now almost 2 million people in sub-Saharan Africa are on antiretrovirals, thanks to the generosity of the people of the United States.

Nice to see the support!

My kids are inspired by Bono and want to do something for kids in Africa. they have named their charity and are going to collect shoes and good used clothing to send those in need. Any help in making this happen would be great - words of support or direction on how to proceed is all we are asking for. We are from a small town in Saskatchewan in Canada

They laugh at me when I say Bono would support. Not expecting it but know that he would encourage our children. I believe we can make a difference. we are a province that cares. It may only be 50K in donations but isn’t that something to be proud of. Help on how to get this done would be great. Thanks
