A Preview Of Things To Come?
You might remember that U2 3D was presented in collaboration with Best Buy, and that Best Buy Reward Zone members were offered a sneak peek at the film prior to its opening in 25 different cities.
Best Buy now has a new level of its Reward Zone program called Reward Zone Premier Silver Level. This is awarded to customers who are a part of the Reward Zone program and who have spent $2500 within a calendar year at Best Buy. Besides a 25% point bonus for all purchases, Silver Level members are given added benefits to sweeten the deal of spending that type of money at Best Buy.
They are showing an example of the “exclusive perks” for the Coldplay tour. Here are the details from Best Buy’s Reward Zone website:
The exclusive, special-access privileges continue for Reward Zone® program members during Coldplay’s most recent U.S. tour. So far, member-only perks surrounding the Coldplay tour have included:
* An exclusive presale ticket opportunity, which allowed members to score great seats to Coldplay shows before tickets went on sale to the general public.
* Complimentary tickets to Coldplay’s show at Madison Square Garden on June 23, which kicked off the band’s North American tour. Many Reward Zone program members were delighted to receive a phone call notifying them that two tickets to the show — awesome seats — had been set aside for them.
* A special-access sound check and meet-and-greet party before the show in several cities. Reward Zone program Premier Silver members were called and invited to arrive early at these shows, for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to hang out with the band and take in the pre-concert sound check:Dallas — November 19
St. Paul — November 14
Atlanta — November 11
Chicago — July 23More special-access events are in the works — and keeping your e-mail address and other account information up-to-date will help to ensure you stay informed.
Mind you, there are *NO* plans for U2 currently. However, given Best Buy’s partnership with U2 in the past as well as Best Buy’s partnership with Live Nation with other artists, it will not surprise me if something like this occurs. It’s all speculation on my part…but if they did it with Coldplay, who’s to say that something like this wouldn’t happen for U2? I guess we’ll stay tuned.
