Can Simon Cowell Say He’s Beaten Bono at Ping-Pong?

Legendary producer Steve Lillywhite has released a follow-up video for his very real campaign to replace American Idol judge Simon Cowell.  In this one — which is an all-around more-polished video than his first one — he asserts his reign over “pretty much anyone I’ve ever produced” at table tennis.  Oh, and he talks about coming up with special sound effects for “I Will Follow.”

There might be a style issue, however, since Ellen Degeneres has the same hairdo as him.

    OMG that’s funny!

Lillywhite would be the perfect fit. He has a strong sense of criticism that has been unbeknownst to America pre-Simon Cowell. Thats why his records are so good. A sculptor.

What these kids need is constructive criticism to get them going. Much better then that vile and heinous opportunistic Ellen with her dancing. Vomit.

LillyIdol: That slam on Ellen is totally uncalled for.

Moderator: Can we erase that last sentence please?

hahahaha, altrockaddict it’s just the person’s opinion. It doesn’t make it true :) . I think Ellen is funny and pretty and great but… lillyidol may have a bit of a point hahaha, Ellen is a total ham, but it is not vomit-inducing by any means. I don’t mind, I still like her.

Steve Lilywhite is awesome. I might even be able to watch the show with my mom once and a while if he gets the job.

i wonder why on earth Lillywhite wants the AI gig? That show is going up in flames. It’s not like he needs the money or the fame. And, how many great artists has the show produced? Perhaps that’s what he wants to change. It’s kind of odd though. Of course if he were on it I’d probably watch it again. Ellen is a real turn-off though.

I’d love to hear Lillywhite tell contestants to put more passion in their singing and move around the stage more like Bono. That’s what most of these kis are lacking, and it’s what makes AI so boring.

I think Ellen is great, and then all it would need is a replacement for yo-dog Randy, and we’re good to go!
