U2 and the Onion

Whilst trying to avoid doing any work I recently discovered that some amusing things come up if you type ‘U2′ into the Onion’s website. Hope it helps you to procrastinate as much as me…….

U2 video on Billboard.com

Billboard.com asked me to put up this amusing U2 3D video from the Sundance festival on @U2. It’s short, but amusing; and I like Bono’s Russian accent. ;)

Bono caption contest

I went to the “Daily Show” Web site today, and one of the links on the main page was to a caption contest for this photo:

Bono and pals

Sixty comments are posted so far; of the ones I’ve seen, none of them are terribly funny. (Although I did enjoy these two: “Looking around this distinguished body at my good friends from Indiana and Massachusetts and Delaware, I think I can say without fear of objection, I still haven’t found what I’m looking for,” and “Bono delights Senator Lugar with his yet to be released techno cover of “Little Bunny Foo-Foo.”) Come on @U2′ers; let’s see if we can’t flood Comedy Central’s Indecision 2008 with our own brand of Bono humor.

Ewwwww Deuce

Comedy Central’s South Park has taken the piss out of Bono’s crap - seriously. The episode first aired last night, and will rebroadcast tonight at 10 p.m.

Bloody Sunday Sneakers?!

Nike has announced that they are creating a special edition shoe called the “Dunk SB,” inspired by the U2 song “Sunday Bloody Sunday.”

The design features a combination of black patent leather and red velvet. You can view a photo here at eukicks.com.

I’m all about the song–don’t get me wrong–but of all the U2 tunes to base a shoe on, I might have chosen one less…bloody.

Who’s Got an Extra $5k?

Paul’s old carThat’s all it costs, at least right now, to buy a 1996 Range Rover that used to belong to Paul McGuinness. Nice!

See the auction on eBay.

Thx to Zach G. on the Exit mailing list for the link.

(I’m proud of myself for avoiding the clichéd references to “Daddy’s Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car” and “Fast Cars” in the headline of this post, not to mention something really cheesy like “U 2 Can Own Paul’s Old Car.” Not that the one I chose is great, but at least it’s not dripping with cheese….)
