Rolling Stone Readers Pick U2 Album as 80s Best

In a recent Rolling Stone readers poll, U2 took top honors for the Best Album of the 80s with their hit The Joshua Tree. Said to be a close race, the band beat out some of the top acts of all time, including Michael Jackson and Prince.

The Top 10 are as follows:

3. Michael Jackson, Thriller
4. Bruce Springsteen, Born In The U.S.A.

Fans in Ireland: Win Tickets to Killing Bono Premiere

Paramount Pictures will award two lucky fans tickets to the red carpet premiere of Killing Bono in Dublin on Mar. 15. In addition, the contest winners will receive complimentary passes to an exclusive after-party and accommodations at The Clarence Hotel. U2 Rock Band Video Game? Tell Harmonix ‘Yes’

Should Harmonix make a U2 Rock Band video game? As a big fan of the game, and an obvious U2 fan, I’m here to ask you to join me in saying a big, fat yes!

Harmonix has posted a survey in the official RockBand.com forums, inviting game players to indicate for which bands they’d want the company to develop special versions of the game. There’s already a super-popular (and very cool) Beatles Rock Band, and a Green Day-specific version of the game is coming soon.

The survey page specifically says

This survey isn’t a guarantee that Harmonix is going to make games based on any of these bands, but community feedback is and always has been absolutely invaluable to us in determining our focus within the world of Rock Band as we move forward.

… but don’t let that stop you from voting.

“Who had the best Super Bowl halftime show?” is the poll question at the L.A. Times‘ Fabulous Forum blog. Hard to believe that as I write this, U2′s thrilling, unforgettable, highly emotional – and classy – 2002 halftime show leads by just 8 votes over J.J. and J.T.’s “mishap.”

But U2 has quite a gap to overcome if the “best band in the world” is to win this matchup against halftime performances from The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. So go cast your vote.

There’s a new app on Facebook that asks some tough questions, but the grand prize is well worth the brain power…two U2 tickets for life when they come to play in your area!

The site on Facebook says, “winners will be selected at random from the top 100 players with the best score.”

Note: you can only play the game 3 times total, and to unlock the “bonus round,” you need to invite 5 friends to play. The questions are tough – and you don’t have enough time to Google the answers. So, knowledge is power, but speed is the key for the high score in this game.
