Did anyone else catch the Bono joke in Hancock?
No spoiler here, I promise—but I’ll have to admit I smiled pretty widely when only a few minutes into the superhero film Hancock, there was a Bono reference.
You’ll have to see the movie to catch the joke, but I can give you a hint: Jason Bateman’s character “Ray” delivers it.
In that brilliant Arrested Development sort of way.

You don’t have to see the movie to find out the joke. If you do a Google news search for Bono numerous stories covering the movie come up because of the Bono reference. It’s hilarious because it leads off most of the reviews of the movie as if the mention of Bono is more important than the movie itself.
Of course, you can’t help but hear it! And just in case my kids and hubby missed it, I gave them the “I told you so-Bono rocks!” look. Hahaha!
I giggled my little head off, and my brother gave a long-suffering sigh. Luckily, I wasn’t the only one in the cinema to find it funny. Earlier this year, ‘Made of Honour’ pulled a similar trick with a string of Bono references. Seems the man really is everywhere.
It was great. I watched the film the same day I read this post, but forgot all about it. Anyhow, it was really funny. Arrested Development sort of way.
LOL! And don’t forget the Simpsons movie – my kids still quote that one, mostly to irritate me!

I thought the joke was very funny. Bono sure does get around.
When I heard “Bono” leave that guy’s lips in the movie, I gasped and then I slapped my dad on the arm 3 times…which really irritated him.
What can I say? I love my Bono!
And the movie was really good, too.
What was the joke????
See the movie to see the joke—no spoilers here!
