Third, I’ve seen double-neck guitars that give you a 6 string and a 12 string, but anything more is ridiculous. If you must jump between 6 and 12 string quickly then that’s a good solution. Why would you need to jump between 6 string, another 6 string, a 7 string and a 12 string? For Christ sake, maybe stick with one guitar on a song!

Last, I’m not even sure Edge really needs to switch guitars, unless they’re tuned different. With effects, it’s hard for the average person to discern the difference in guitars in the best listening environment, let alone at a concert. And for those that can differentiate, does it really matter? It’s live – it’s going to be different than the studio version. So what if it should be a humbucking pickup instead of a single coil, or vice versa.
