Forget the hundreds of millions of albums sold, forget the globetrotting tours that set records that may never be broken, forget the throngs of adoring fans … you know you’ve made it when scientists name a spider after you.
That honor has been bestowed on Bono.
According to the Riverside Press-Enterprise, taxonomist Jason Bond recently discovered a couple dozen new spider species, including three inside Joshua Tree National Park. Given the discovery location, he named one of them A. bonoi.
That’s a photo of the Bonospider at right. We’ve helpfully added a pair of fly shades just to mess with taxonomy and science and all that phylum, class, order, genus stuff from high school.
Important: Next time you’re out wandering around the California desert, watch your step lest you step on …. let’s not even think about that.
Um… Why are the fly shades on its butt?
Seems about right to me. Isn’t that where Bono always speaks from when it comes to new albums? 😉
How long ’til we get a Gollum video with the Fly and Spidey sides of his personality talking it out?
