LA Times Recognizes U2′s Attention to Iran
In this new blog entry for the LA Times, Jahd Khalil notes that the green-tinted screen for “Sunday Bloody Sunday” on the current tour is a nod to the “signature color of the protests” by citizens of that country, who are still fighting for fair elections.
So…did any of you at the U2360 shows in Barcelona or Milan make the connection between the color of the screen and the recent troubles in Iran?

Yes, there has been plenty of discussion about this when the first videos of the performance appeared on You Tube and Bono mentioned Iran explicitely in Milan.
I realize Bono spoke about it, but I was referring specifically to the green screen the journalist mentioned in his blog.
I immediately thought “Ireland” with the green light, white smoke and orange stage bits prominantly lit. It immediately made me think of the Irish flag seeing it live. Which kind of made sense to me given the subject matter…
I was confused at first, I went to the Barca #2 show, but then I saw arabic writing on the green screen (which I later found out was persian) and assumed that is what it was about, but I didn’t know it was a famous Iranian poem until the youtube clips.
it makes sense but don’t think donna is right cause i was in Paris, and i saw the patch on the back of his neck clear of any strap from the djember he was playing. think the strap goes around his waist.
In addition to the poem, as intro to Sunday Bloody Sunday they actually use a track by an Iranian-born artist, Sussan Deyhim!! The song is called “Beshno Az Ney/ Windfall”.
Its beautiful!! Here is a link to her music if anyone is in interested
