Scattered Thoughts: Sometimes
This video aired on Spanish television channel Cuatro following Spain’s victory in the Euro 2008 soccer championships on Sunday. (via)
I think it’s an *interesting* song choice.

As well as the pace of the song I also think the edit is quite to the point.
Spain being a country of many many culturally (at the least) divided regions they’ve always had their trouble standing together.
Surprising choice though, knowing the original background of the song, but hey, that never stopped people from playing One at their weddings as well
Exactly my thought. Probably the network was sending the message that fans — and teamwork — were the reasons for Spain’s victory. But strange to chose a song that is a tribute to Bono’s late father.
Beautiful Day seems more like a soccer victory song to me!
You know the way it is edited works.
We know the original context of the song (which makes listening to it a little weird), but it does apply to this situation quite well.
awesome editing! i would have never thought of using that song for a victory – it works perfectly!
sweet.
