I was also at that concert…I traveled with my husband from Las Vegas. That was my Christmas present! I loved the concert. I remember seeing all the red Santa hats around the B-stage and thinking “I’ve got to figure out what THEY’RE doing…how did they get their tickets so close to the stage?!” That year was the beginning of my obsession with U2. My favorite from Pop is Please…it became such a powerful song during the live performances…it really morphed into another realm when compared to the album version. Oh…I’ve also progressed on acquiring tickets…last tour my husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary by going to see them in Dublin…twice!!!

U2 have never been more interesting than they were during the 90′s…although I am feeling optimistic about this new album.

That was the last album that I really feel was worth listening to over and over and over again. The rest haven’t been bad but they’re extremely dull by comparison. I loved everything POP. It was so much fun and experimental and just…. LAYERS of stuff.

I think U2′s whole “revisionist history” way of looking back at that half of the decade is unfortunate.
