Catching up with The Hall Effect on U2, Boots and the Future…
@U2 faithful and our loyal Podcast listeners might remember last year’s interview with up-and coming rock band The Hall Effect. @U2 caught up with The MTV Video Music Awards Latin America recipients last night in Bogota, where the rock quartet played their last show before heading out to London to record their next album.
As with many fans, “Get on Your Boots” has taken its time to grow on these U2 die-hards: “It still has not grown on me very much” admits the magnetic guitarist Charry. “Altough to be frank with you, U2′s first singles always take a while to grow on me”. Charry, who plays in a style reminescent of The Edge during the Boy-Girl LP years, added “I am very much looking forward to the new album. From what I heard it is going to be a mixture between Pop which is my favorite album and Achtung Baby“.
Talking candidly about the Bono stage presence he looks forward to having one day, the spirited and compelling front man Oscar was also very excited about what the future brings for The Hall Effect. Speaking about everything from David Gilmour to Olympic Studios, Oscar was excited to grow as a musician: “Sometimes you need to go to diferent places to grow as a musician”. Wearing a leather jacket and drinking some water while the road crew tested the sound, Oscar added “We definetly look forward to taking up the level of our group a notch, and create an even better album than our first go-around”.
As with all U2 fans, the upcoming tour was also not too far from the mind of group. Charry who last saw the Vertigo tour in Zurich recalls the experience as “an elevating experience” while Oscar hopes they can catch a show “Hopefully in Croke Park” he smirks while talking about the Dublin shows which will allegedly take place in July.
When asked about The Hall Effect’s own personal North American Tour, Charry looks forward to connecting with American audiences sooner rather than later: “Hopefully after we are done with this album we can soon take the show to the U.S and other parts of the globe”.
As far as the show in itself which took place later in the night, it was very sucesfull and @U2 was very proud to be there. The Hall Effect said goodbye to its fans, its families and its friends while playing classic songs, and their hits including “Aim At Me” and the spine chilling “Unpure” in front of a packed audience in the city that first saw them grow: Bogota, Colombia.

The Hall Effect is a very good group here in Colombia.I wish them the best.
Regarding Charry´s comment, I consider myself exactly the opposite: U2´s first singles sound like glory after several months expecting new songs…
