@U2 U2 3D Roundup: Seattle

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Pacific Science Center and Jillian’s for the West Coast party last night. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting you (special shout-out to our guests from Pittsburgh—it was amazing you came all that way for us)!

Here are just a few photos from the evening:

    Just had to say that I thought the film was brilliant! It was so much fun to have Bono hovering there right before my eyes – I don’t even care that the less fanatic may have seen me try to reach out and touch his extended hand… : )

    What a great film, technology-wise, and fan-wise, and sound-wise. As many times as I saw that show live, I learned much more from this viewpoint about how hard my favorite musicians actually work. And how great a showman Bono really is.

    Sorry I didn’t make it to the afterparty, but I still have stitches in my head from surgery a few days back, and this was absolutely the BEST way to escape my self pity and the rain on Saturday. I did so want to play the “World’s Largest (Red) Guitar” in the lobby…

    It was very nice to see all the different ages of people, and hear the unanimous “greats” afterward. One man I overheard said it gave him a whole new appreciation for the band and he was heading home to dig out his old CDs…

    I for one will be going again… and maybe again…

    Thanks for the article on the Seattle ‘behind the music’ interview. It aided in appreciating the show even more.

    Nancy,

    Thanks so much for joining us! I also commented to fellow staffers that one of my favorite parts of the evening was talking with people age 6 – 60. It really is a testament to how many different people the band appeals to, isn’t it?

    And I enjoyed writing the ‘Behind the Curtain’ article very much—I’m so glad it enhanced your experience. Thank you for reading it!

    My friend and I came up from Portland to attend the 3D event with the fan club. Thanks @U2. I even won a dvd from sitting in the right seat. Yes, U2 in 3D was quite a treat – what couldn’t we see – sweat on bono’s face, Hovering over larry we saw Ice-tea(?) and box of kleenex, Edge’s fingers on the piano, and getting a bass lesson from Adam. For me I thought the sound was a little muted, and wanted it louder or in more stereo – tho the fan club folks said they had turned it up. And though the movie plays like a concert. I realized that many great songs were missing, and in the end the film seemed a little incomplete – well of course I wanted more!

    Thanks fan club organizers for the lift to Jillians. We enjoyed meeting Boat-man Ian. However once at the after party, we found the pool hall, while roomy, not such a great place to meet up if you didn’t know anyone or want to play pool. Everyone spread out into small groups to play pool. So we just ended up leaving after a drink and spending 5.99 on soft pretzel (!) to find our own adventure out in the city after dark.
