U2 Without Spirits
Following along the lines of Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina, the University of Minnesota has announced that the June 27, 2010 U2 show will be a dry one. Not even a drop of Guinness will be sold at the venue.
According to Joel Maturi, U of M’s Athletic Director, “Live Nation and U2 are OK with that.”
The decision follows school policy, which doesn’t allow alcohol to be sold at its sporting events.

The show at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, VA was dry, too. But, it didn’t seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd!
I felt the Raleigh show was *better* as a dry show. The crowd seemed more into the show and I didn’t have to worry about beer spilling over me or smelling of it at the end of the night. In Boston, vendors were walking around selling beer in the GA area – even inside the inner circle – and the drunkeness of people kind of took away from the show…not to mention having been baptized by some who were sloshing it around.
Back to a comment I remember reading here on @u2 during this tour– if you have to be drunk to be at a U2 show, you are truly not a REAL U2 fan !
the worst part of the chicago show was the beer vendors- they were all over the field and in your line of sight half the time. Good riddance!
