I know you obstructed someone’s view to get this. Not cool. How’d you feel is someone jutted a camera in front of your face?
Appreciated by one who wasn’t there.
Muldfeld: The video was shot from the back rail of the inner circle and obstructed nobody’s view because there was nobody behind the camera for about 15 feet. I took various pictures/video for that show and can tell you that I positioned myself to cause no disruption for the fans around me. In fact I ended up in that specific spot because I had conversations with the fans around me before even the opening act about where to stand to cause the least disruption (being 6′2″ surrounded by 5′ people leads to that conversation, camera or not!)
The key with GA is respect. This was as true in the pre-camera, pre-cellphone days as it is today. You respect people’s space, look out for each others safety and try to make the experience as enjoyable for everyone.
Now if we could just translate the same camaradarie and good will to every GA line and to blog comments areas, I think we would be well on our way to world peace
U2 has butchered this song time and time again since the early 90’s. The original has a nice melody that is well-sung. In this version, he sounds like Lili von Shtupp, singing “And you give yourself away” like he literally could not care less that he’s on-stage in front of sixty thousand people.
I apologize calebu2. You’d be one of that rare breed to care about those around him/her. I met very, very little such respect at concerts, let alone the GA area.
Kudos to you for capturing something without obstructing others. And also, for being kind enough to try to not obstruct fans with your height. The massive guy who came late and waded through many, many people kept harassing me for half an hour because I wouldn’t let him past me.
However, the idea that most people have their views obstructed shouldn’t be a surprising one to you. Most people don’t give a damn about those around him, which is why I find the whole idea that U2 refers to of a spiritual community forming during their concerts laughable.
knarf, I totally agree with you about Bono’s vocal performance of “With Or Without You” being lousy for a very long time. The problem is that he tends to vary vocal performances by singing the lyrics off-beat if they were sung on-beat on the record and singing them on-beat if they were sung off-beat on the record. This has the result of reversing what was the best choice for that song for the record and, therefore, for all performances of that song.
