Blackwell Describes U2 As “Rinky-dink”
During Saturday’s edition of NPR’s “Weekend Edition,” Chris Blackwell went back in time to recall his time with Island Records, a label he founded, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The 10-minute interview is available on NPR’s site. In it he states, “”I didn’t love the music. It was a little rinky-dink, but I believed in them.”
A new book is also available documenting Island’s half-centry: The Story of Island Records by Suzette Newman and Chris Salewicz.
