This week’s edition of Entertainment Weekly features a piece called “Dining With The Stars”. It features 11 celebrity-owned restaurants in the greater New York City and Los Angeles areas. It states “think star maps …for your stomach.” Of interest to us here is the eatery that has been given the honor of the “Best Burger” in New York City. It is none other than the 7-year-old West Village restaurant called the Spotted Pig. Some fans may already know the place. It actually has more of the feel of a village inn than a London gastropub it is supposed to resemble. This place is credited with starting that trend.
It is owned by Jay-Z, Michael Stipe, Fatboy Slim and none other than our beloved Bono. If you are lucky enough to be seated on the brownstone’s ultra exclusive third floor where the owners dine, you may see celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Matt Damon, Beyonce, and Rihanna on any given day. The list goes on and on. The burgers are famous for being smothered in Roquefort cheese.
Well, what about the price? It states a meal is about the same as “one ticket to Spider-Man : Turn Off The Dark on Broadway ($150.00), though Bono’s burger is better than his score.” Ouch…that last statement hurt! The magazine gives it a grade of B+ .
If you are in the New York City area or are visiting and would like to try a burger, the address is 314 West 11th Street. Here is the website if you’d like more information.
