Grammy Nom for Pride (In the Name of Love)

As much as U2 fans feel a certain tiredness to “Pride (In the Name of Love)” in U2′s live set, the song is actually up for a Grammy on February 13 next year. The song was recorded by Dierks Bentley, Del McCoury & The Punch Brothers for Bentley’s album Up on The Ridge, and is in the running for the Best Country Collaboration with Vocals Grammy. It’s fun to hear this rock anthem transformed for country.

Hmmmm… I actually really like that. Nice guitar fingerwork, that takes boatloads of talent. Also like how the fiddle was used in place of Edge’s guitar in the middle part. Smooth harmonies. Super pure tones. Country dipthongs not too bad either. A worthy cover IMHO.

One of U2′s best songs ever and sadly Bono and Edge have in the past 10-15 years turned into a sleeper live. Yawn. Bring back the pep in Pride Bono! ..It worked so well for Out of Control and I Will Follow (Milan live). Great song.
