The Spider-Man Cocktail

I’ve been starting to get ready for the launch of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and stumbled upon some YouTube interviews from a year or two ago. Nice to see the Bono and Edge’s sound bytes haven’t changed too much over time.

I, for one, am looking forward to S:TUTD, and I hope there is a subsequent “U2 and Original Broadway Cast” album in 2011 or 2012. I would also love to see U2 do a Spiderman leg to the 360 tour in 2012, with perhaps some spectacular special effects added in and some broadway actors join for at least part of the show. Perhaps have the theme be a U2 show for the first 30 minutes, then have the show interrupted by the bad guy, then Spiderman comes from the audience and rescues the day in a 1-hour stripped down version of the broadway show, followed by another U2 finale/encore. I know it’s not pure, but U2 has always done it’s best work when they innovated, not when they cleaned house.

While that’s certainly a bold idea, I think you overestimate the band’s desire for innovation. More likely they’ll incorporate a song or two in their shows next year

Oh, I think Zoo TV and POP were innovative. The 360 stage itself is innovative and a Broadway show is not exactly tired rock and roll been-there-done-that. I would not put a Spiderman leg of the 360 tour past them. They could even play HM,TM,KM,KM and have Batman help Spidey…no nevermind…getting cheesy now….
