VIDEOS: Bono does “So Cruel,” Edge does “Love Is Blindness”

As part of the promotion for the upcoming DVD releases of From The Sky Down, U2 has posted two video clips from the documentary: Bono doing a solo acoustic version of “So Cruel” and The Edge doing a solo acoustic version of “Love Is Blindness.”

I’ll shutup now and let you enjoy them both.

I told you they could sing a live version of So Cruel. This needs to show up on the next tour.

@DreamOutLoud - they performed the song live at the 9/18/92 Chicago show, so it’s definitely do-able. I was at the show, but the funniest thing is the bootleg I have of the show. As soon as Bono sings the first line “You crossed the line, who pushed you over?” some really happy diehard in the audience (who realized this was a rare moment) screams THANK YOU BONOOOOOOO! lol

@bridget - if you have the WAR album, Edge sings the lead on the beginning of “Seconds” and if you have the Rattle & Hum album he sings the entire lead vocal on “Van Diemen’s Land.” If you are able to get ahold of any bootlegs from the PopMart tour, he nearly always sings a karaoke version of something like “Sweet Caroline” (Neil Diamond) or “Dancing Queen.” If memory serves me correctly those were in the earlier part of the tour and by the fall leg he was singing “Sunday Bloody Sunday” acoustically by himself during the B-stage portion of the show, while Bono was in the back changing into a new gown. lol. One thing that a lot of people either found funny or annoying when Edge would sing SBS on that tour was that he would always said “We played this in Sarajevo a couple of weeks ago…” even tho the Sarajevo show was on Sept 23 and the fall leg didn’t even start until Oct 31, and he was still saying “a couple of weeks ago” by the time the U.S. tour ended in mid-December. :P

I was at the 8/22/92 soundcheck at Foxboro Stadium where the band worked on “So Cruel” several times, then to have them perform it that night was a fantastic surprise :)

If anyone can point me to video of any 1992 performance of So Cruel, I would be MUCH obliged!! YouTube isn’t turning up anything but a Milan snippet and Foxboro audio.
