WBCN Off The Air!

After 41 years on the air, long-time Boston rock radio station, WBCN (104.1 fm) will be no more after August 12 to make way for a new sports talk radio station for the Boston market to compete with the very successful WEEI.

The news hit yesterday much to the disappointment and surprise of many in the area. WBCN was the first radio station in the United States to play U2’s music.

WBCN - you will be missed!

Not sure if you’re missing some of the story or if I was misinformed but I’d heard that they would still be broadcasting on the internet?

Yeah, I read in the Boston Globe today that wbcn.com will still broadcast normally. It’ll still be very strange not having it on the airwaves in Beantown though :(
