Bono proposed as “Ireland’s Greatest” by Dave Fanning

Ireland’s RTE 1 TV Channel have been airing weekly programs on the five finalists of Ireland’s Greatest. This is a publicly voted competition to find who Ireland’s ‘greatest’ person is. There is more information on the series here.

The five finalists in no particular order are:

* Michael Collins
* Bono
* Mary Robinson
* John Hume
* James Connolly

On Sept. 27, RTE aired the program on Bono, which was presented by Dave Fanning, who’s association with U2 goes back to the very early days. Dave presented a run through of his career through music, politics and social views, and more importantly social actions. He gives an expected upbeat presentation of why Bono should be Ireland’s Greatest, and who better to propose Bono as Fanning has known them for over 30 years?

The whole show is available here on You Tube, in six different parts lasting just under an hour.

Voting concludes on Oct. 22. You can find full voting details here.
